Did you need spacers on your alloys to fit the front coilovers?
Can you please post the size (diameter, width and offset) of your whels and the coilover kit you have.
Thanks a lot

et49 15s with avo coilovers. needed 3mm spacers and mod the front spring cup to fit them with no rubbing, but that was to get them on the lowest setting.

This sounds positive then, is it to do with the width of the strut/ spring??
Really then do u need to just buy the coilovers and wheels and give it a go?
Im wanting 7 x 17 ET45 alloys on, with eiter FK Highsport or COBRA Evo 1 coilovers.

The casings on the budget coilovers aren't as exact as the Highsport/KonigSport/Silverline/etc hence the price.
They basically just get a shape that fits as many vehicles as possible.
If you're going for the Euro look with ET35 micro wheels then you won't have any problems with the budget coilovers, but sensible wheels are a problem.
Saying that, you can't even compare the quality of the budget to the HighSport kits.
FK made their name with the HighSport coilovers - it's like Coke making Asda Smartprice Cola. It's never going to be as good as the Real Thing (TM) regardless of what label is on them.
Spend the extra £100 or so and get HighSports.

you can't adjust the damping rate on them. becuase you can make the car lower or higher with coilovers, the spring's shape will adjust making it more likely to bounce when lowered. adjusting the damping can make the rate of the "bounce" more even to the height of your car.
sommat along them lines anyway.

i see so lowering it even more obviously makes the ride harsher so with the expensive kit you can adjust the dampers to make the ride alot better!!

wrong way around i think mate. because you're lowering the car more, you're going to be extending the spring more you see. the spring isn't as compressed if it was wound up, if you know what i mean. when the spring is wound down(lowering) there is going to be more travel (spring action). the fully adjustable will make the damping firmer so the lower down you go, the more stiff you can set the damping.
i think thats right

no gold your the wrong way around.
when you lower a car it Compresses the spring more as he car sits on the spring. Extending it wud raise the car..
Cars get harsher when they get lower as the lower you go the less spring travel you have.
