Had a go with my mates CO2 powered air pistol yesterday, and fancy getting one myself now. He also has an Air Rifle, the only thing I didnt like about the pistol was the lack of range on it.
Any suggestions what pistol I could go for with a fair bit of range on it?? Cant remember what his is, but like I say, want a fair amount of range.
Not too sure whether I want .177 or .22 either, advantages/disadvantages??

dunno but I think the new law says you have to have a licence to have one and that it must be kept in a lockable cabinet ?? maybe

i do
had 3 c02 and an air rifle.
first one i had was a GAMO pistol,
2nd which i still have is a GAMO magnum replica with laser sight,
3rd still have is a Walther CP99.

if going for a c02 gun just get a .177, .22 are used mainly for rifles and shooting bigger things. have a good 'ol search for a style you like. they're all about the same power with the same limit.
if you want more power, then get an air rifle. i had a BSA lightning which is damn powerful and can shoot pretty far and accurate if equipped with scope etc.
if you're getting a pistol for shooting things in the garden, like me, then i suggest getting one which is aesthetically pleasing. no point in getting a really expensive one. but saying that, do not buy a cheapo one because they'll break.

do not wave it around like you own the place btw. you'll get fucked by the police.

Not got an air pistol but still have an air rifle, always had one.
As a young fool I always has a .22 BSA Meteor and used to saw crosses into the pellets to make them break up, but all I got was pellet 'droppage' which most .22 's (wellcheap ones) do anyway over a pretty short range, and if I was not in the right area if I hit a rabbit or something, the bastard used to run off injured which is not cool, and rather pointless.
These days I have a .177 supersport with a good scope, you can get large calibres like the .25 but over 40 lbs or something you need a license. The range ain;t that good unless the pressure is there and the pellet drops off target.
With a .177 and scope Ihave a pretty good range, took down a rat the other day and once shot a vole swimming across a river.
Nailed all kinds of vermin though, its so accurate, I've even nailed wasps hovering outside nests and done head shots on pigeons from 100 yrds away.
I don't condone killing animals, but rats and pigeons are vermin.

AA s410 are not co2 they are pre-charged ie have a cylinder below the barrel with compressed air. Charge mine @ 190 bar which is nearly 3,000 psi
Here's a shot from a while back, have a much better scope on it now:

Co2 are loads of fun, not accurate like the s410k, but great for shooting tin cans etc in the back garden

Bit of buying advice:
If you want a pistol to shoot in your back garden, get a good co2 like a walther cp88
If you have a bit of land to shoot on, like permission to shoot on a farm like me, get a rifle.
There are several types of air rifles, mainly springers (single shot with recoil) and pre-charged (multi shot no recoil)
Pre-charged are much better, no recoil, more accurate, much quieter (can't even hear mine fire), but more expensive
Have a look round http://www.airgunbbs.com/forums/

ive already bought one now!!! Got it today, Colt thingy. pic to follow soon.
I did look at the CP88, but didnt wanna spend £160. Got mine for £90 in the end.
Wanted to save some money for the car, and will probably get an air rifle in a couple of months, after sorting the car out!
