Just got back from test driving one, and oh my god how fast is that car! Didn't seem to have much traction in the wet and span through 1st-3rd gears. Think its a bit too quick for me at 21 - wouldn't have my liscence for much longer.

Had a go in an ST170 as well, nice and quick but gears were a bit mushy and the dash board looks really cheap.

So i'm 95% certain its gonna be the 2.2 astra coupe.

Anyone else had a go in any of these?

Interiors are suprisingly nice on these for a honda, i like ST170's too, i hate fords generally but i found the st170 way too expensive to insure for how quick it was and expensive too!

i also like the ST170 but that was dearer to insure than the type R and the type R is a much better car i feel. u can't beat japenese engines. 15 million VTEC engines and not one has gone wrong

Yeh the civic was going up to 8k revs without any bother, the insurance will cost me £1200 on that but £900 on the astra coupe.

It was scary how fast it was, but seemed really easy to drive, and just kept going.

Couldn't afford a brand new one without taking out finance, so i'm looking at spending around £14000.

Might be going for am astra coupe turbo now though, but still shopping around.

We used to have an acoord blew up, had 3 mitsubishis 1 was ace, 2nd borke down was muccho xpensive to fix and 3rd fell to bits.

Jap cars get this thing about reliablilty just liek bmws and the like and its just a myth all cars have problems. They all break and have some form of reliability issues.

Better than my dads Vauxhall Warranty on his Coupe. The ECU went after less than 3 years of registration. Then the rear springs needed replacing after 50k/37 months, just 2 weeks after his Warranty ended, bit suspcious if you ask me!

As Jambo says - all cars can and do have problems, but when it comes to overall reliability. there are very few people in the industry who would dispute that Jap cars are about as reliable as they come. I've owned 2 VWs in the past and all I can say is 'never again'!

if you're worried about the interior in the focus, i've got the astra coupe and its nothing to shout about inside, its the look of the car outside that's the best
