Got a question for you gay boys.
Recieved my Nova GSi steering wheel through the post today, and looking inside the wheel I notice that there is'nt much thread to hold it to the steering rack.
Is this how it works? Less thread on the steering wheel and more on the actual rack.
I am concerned.

It's held on by tapered splines and a big bolt, thats why you are meant to take the wheel off with a special tool... I'm not sure what the threads are for though....

Bolt? You mean nut. If the nut was the only thing holding it on it would turn on the columm.

Is it thread or is it spline ? If there's not alot of spline i wouldn't be to concerned i definately think you mean spine.

Yea nut even. I also said thet the wheel was on a tapered spline, that will prevent it turning on the column...

Press the macro button on your digi camera too, it will prevent it blurring when you take close up pictures...

So Ed, the splines don't have to be massive and high up like the spline on the steering columm?

Na SR ones are the same but grey.
I had this same shape steering wheel on my Nova SR and loved it, its so good to drive fast with.

No, one spline has to be shorter than the other, as they are tapered at the end, when you tighten the nut onto the steering wheel the spline on the steering wheel will lock onto the spline on the column, if it is massively short then I'd get it checked out. You should have a spring in there too for some reason....

How many mm shorter is it, I doubt there would be a difference in the column length between normal Novas and sport version

Its not the length I'm worried about, its the fact that inside the steering wheel the bit that grips to the steering wheel looks wore right down.
