Is there any way of dodging a speeding ticket?... My mum's had a letter through saying her car was clocked doing 36 in a 30 (I was driving)...
She's not gonna pay the fine & take the points, but I don't want em either..

Is there any way of getting round it?

Dont they now issue the fine to the owner of the car if the driver at that time cant be ascertained?

Try this:

Provide a list of names it could be (as many as poss, say 20). You have not "not privded information" (infact you have done the opposite) and its up to the police to investigate.

Would be interesting to see how that would pan out.

The law in this country is innocent until proven guilty, if they cannot prove who was driving the car then they cant convict you

You could dig a big hole for yourself if you give in a big list of possible drivers - any one of them could be asked to provide details of the insurance they were driving under - so they would have to have some vailid cover for the vehicle (if you reckon they could have been driving with your mums permission - they obviously aren't listed on her policy) If the police guess you are giving them the runaround they might be awkward and ask everyone for their docs!!!

Why dont you just accept what you did was wrong and take the penalties like a grown up.

If youd killed someone due to 6mph over the limit you wouldnt be bitching would you.

Sorry to rant but for fcuks sake, grow up and take responsibility.

combatvauxhall, I wasn't asking for opinions on speeding etc... I understand what I did was wrong, but at the time, I was following a car to Elvington (I didn't know the way & didn't have a map).

We had just come off a small roundabout & was on a wide country lane. The guy driving isn't known for speeding, infact he doesn't condone it whatsoever..
With this in mind, I was just following him & doing the same speed as him.
I suppose he mistook the road for a 40 (he got caught too).

Now I don't mind paying the fine.. It's the points i'd rather do without!
