i see, 3 of my mates have 1.2 8v's and i have a newer 1.2 16V and there really is no comparison between me and them.
however my oter pal has a 1.4 16V and he wipes the floor with me, but in my defence i am closer to him that the other 3 are to me!

1.2 8v is 45bhp
1.2 16v is 65bhp in B and 75bhp in C (and possibly late B depending who you ask)
The only 8v/16v engines that are vaguely comparable are the multi-point 1.4 8v (82bhp) in SRi and later 1.4 16v (90bhp) in SRi, Sport etc.
Some say the 8v is better lower down the rev range and also responds better to tuning.

only 1.6 gsi's/sports keep up (within corsa range) and the 1.8 C is slightly quicker but not much imo. (I ave a 1.6 sport)

my sxi might catch a sri not tried yet but just fitted dbilas manifold
and the motor now revs cleanly to 7500 rpm with distinct powerband after 5500
not rolling roaded yet so dont know power
but up the gears it does 60 in second over 80 in third and 100 in fourth.
It makes it quicker to 60 because you only need one gearchange. []
