Im not missing the Calibra at all really - yes i miss the grunt and the power of the Calibra but the Corsa is in far superior condition and the C16XE engine is simply awesome.

Im Vauxhall nuts and owned a fair few but i really thought the Corsa would not be a car i would own because even tho i liked them i always prefered the harder lines of the Nova.

But coming up for a week in and the all round driving of the car becomes clear - very cabable on motorways and even on the "private test track" the 70 - 100 sprint in 5th gear is amazing for a 1.6 powered car.

being in mind the GSi is totally bog standard Vauxhall catered for drivers very well - tick over noise is nothing and not a great deal of noise under 3k revs, but pedal to the metal and take it around the rev range the second cam really bites and the induction is sucking hard (oh eeerr) and it simply takes off.

The engine simply loves to rev its arse off and will happily sit at 30mph or give you the throw in the back when required.

In alot of ways i prefer it to the Calibra which really says something about the Vauxhall Corsa GSi 16v.

Great car and truely enjoying the experience of owning one. Will definatly look at the Corsa range when i come to buy again but this time is might have a VXR badge on it

For the C16 its about 110lb/ft, and for the X16 its a little less about 108lb/ft. Magic thing with the C16XE is that it generates peak torque and power at about 3500rpm which is 500rpm lower than the X16XE so the midrange pull is significantly better.
