Wayne Rooney comes clean on the dirt

London: Wayne Rooney was facing a crisis in his personal life last night after admitting a string of sordid encounters.
The footballer hailed as England's wonderkid during Euro 2004 two months ago confessed he had been "foolish" after it was revealed he had frequented a sleazy back-street brothel in Liverpool.
In a story as ridiculous as it was sordid, it was alleged that Rooney, 18, even signed autographs as he stood in the waiting room of the dingy establishment.
On another occasion, despite being warned the police were about to stage a raid, he was said to have fallen asleep on a sofa.
Rooney is alleged to have visited the brothel at least eight times, around 18 months ago, having sex with a number of women including a mother-of-six who dressed as a cowgirl and a 48-year-old grandmother who wore a rubber suit.
The revelations will put a new strain on the player's relation-
ship with his girlfriend Coleen McLoughlin, 18, just weeks after call girl Charlotte Glover claimed she had a sex session with Rooney in a Liverpool flat.
They also further taint the image of the game, which has been mired in sleaze over the Sven Goran Erik-sson and David Beckham sex scandals, the Rio Ferdinand drug controversy and three separate rape allegations against soccer players.
In a statement issued by his management, the Everton striker said: "Foolish as it now seems, I did on occasions visit massage parlours and prostitutes. It was at a time when I was very young and immature and before I had settled down with Coleen.
"I now regret it deeply and hope people may understand that it was the sort of mistake you make when you are young and stupid."
Rooney is believed to have told McLoughlin and his parents about the brothel visits at the time of Glover's allegations.
The couple were in hiding last night and a source close to them said McLoughlin was trying to come to terms with the revelations.
"At first Coleen was in floods of tears," she said. "She felt so betrayed and then she flew into a rage. Now she has calmed down. But it has put a strain on their relationship. They are not the young innocents they were and Coleen is suspicious when Wayne is out on his own with his mates."
Yesterday a friend of Rooney said his management were also keeping a closer eye on the player, whom they believe is easily led astray.
"The brothel incidents happened when he had just found fame and was hanging around with a bad bunch of kids," said the friend. He knows he was foolish and stupid and he is committed to Coleen."
The revelations could threaten the teenager's lucrative deals with brands including Coca-Cola, Nike, Ford, MasterCard and Pringles.
Yesterday Coca-Cola, which has a four-year deal with him, said it was interested in "his football not his personal life".
Rooney and McLoughlin have known each other since they were 14 but did not start dating until they were 16.
At first she turned down his advances, but the footballer struck a deal with her brother, giving him a pair of football boots and shinpads if he would persuade her to go out with him.
Their first date was to the cinema followed by a
hamburger. Rooney had her name tattooed on his arm
