I had the pleasure of fitting the new Pipercross XL filter to the car yesterday and the drive home was so much more enjoyable.

All I had on before was a performance (Pipercross of course) panel filter, the airbox with modified internals (removed the tubing) and a larger cold air feed straight into the box.
The car was quiet, but held on to the revs for too long and took ages to get above 4,000rpm.

Now the XL (cough BFO cough) is on it the revs happily climb and fall when it's on and off throttle and sounds so sweet at the same time.
I've used a 50mm cold air feed underneath to get some more air to the kit and I'm not finding any problems with heat soak so happy days
No real noticeable increase in power, but it's now quicker to get to the top of the rev range.

I know Toby @ Vaux-Tec will be supplying these and I'm sure other companies like LMF and Courtenay, will be doing the same


It's so good, I might postpone the valver conversion....

joff, whats the ambient temperature like in th UK at the moment? i remember that i could significantly feel a performance drop with even mild day temperatures over cold night air. you might be disillusioned into thinking its better than it is.

Yes, but as a proper Pipercross filter, not branded for PVD which will please some.

Standard arrangement is so dire though. You'd be better off catching a bus than use the standard air box.

hmmm still mild then. joff, i believe this to be no different to all the other cones on the market. will still suffer a lot from heat soak once engine is warmed up and summer arrives again. also noticed the mb dropping, looks like you are in for a mild depression in Northampton, wrap up warm joffy, wrap up warm.

my airbox was the same as yours with all internal pipe work removed and smoothed and proper cold air feeds with good cotton panel filter, and i loved it. sounded meaty, and wasnt affected by heat

whoops i missed a few, undercar neons will flash intermittently with indicators and change to a shade of shit brown, as will neon washer jets.
