mum hasn't been feeling too well at home the last couple of months and had to quit her job and whatnot, she's only recently started to feel better and bought herself a dog so that she's got something to take her mind off of things while at home.

Thing is, the little fucker doesn't like going in its cage when it comes to sleeping at night and whines for hours. Think it just cries itself to sleep

It's only 2 months old so i guess it's still gotta learn, just wondered if there was anything we could do (apart from wearing ear plugs) so that it sleeps easier/doesn't make as much noise at night?

Thinking of dynamating the room it sleeps in.... or it's cage

you have to do it when you get a new dog. You have to teach em where their bed is and where they have to sleep at night otherwise they don't frikkin learn!!

I know what you mean. I spend a couple of nights sleeping beside him on the sofa but then thought sod this he will just have to get used to it and now he is quite happy to go in there.

used to lock ours in the kitchen, did the same thing - but after a week or two, they usually STFU. But like luke said be firm with them, make sure they do what there told etc - we were a little less firm with ours and its gets away with quite alot and just ignores you most of the time, or doesnt do what its told

also, rolled up newspaper and slapping it against your hand when they do something bad is a good way to show whos the boss/master of the house, same as raising your hand as if you were going to smack them (dont though, cause thats crewl).

have fun mate

I agree with dom be firm but don't smack or scare the dog is it crys in its cage that will just make her hate it more, try to make it a nice place to be, a few toys and whenever you put her in there give her a small treat. Feeding her in there will also help her to get used to it. Yeah be patient remember she is still a baby and all she has even known is sleeping with her mum and brothers and sisters and now suddernly she is on her own!

My dog sleeps wherever it wants I wouldn't put him in a cage or in a room somewhere.

He 13 now when my grand dad had him he slept in a back room but he's only a wee yorkie he deserves to sleep on a bed. Strange thing is he usually sleeps in with the dirty washing

so I dont think puppies should be put in cages or back rooms I wouldn't have if I had him from a pup. My opinion I'm entitled to it thanks very much.

My dogs are 12 and 13. we've never really firm with them, so the jack russell does what she wants. the border collie went to obedience classes, so shes pretty well trained. they learned that their baskets were where they slept. they did the whining thing for a few days but got used to it. the jack russell is nearly dead so she hardly leaves her bed now shes my favourite tho
