Right today the garage came and picked the car up to change the suspension over.

I get a phone call 10 mins after hes had it to say my there was a problem.

When the vauxhall garage in southampton done my wheels up (when i bought my car) they done them far to tight, which mad the thread over right (must of used an air tool for to long

Thus has fucked my hub up. One of the bolt holes is buggered.

I now need to have a new hub put on the car on the drivers side front...

Or i could i have the hub re screwed,

Another problem has been the bolts were to short and with the 5mm needed to clear the brake caliper not enough of the bolt was on the hub!

So need a new hub and new longer bolts.

The only other thing i could do is buy 2 new alloys et 35 and put them on the front, (same as a 10mm spacer) and kahn said they would machine them for me and take it to any offset i wanted (et39 would be great)

Waiting to see if i kahn can get hold of some longer bolts for me in the mean time...

Just makes me sick i gotta pay £100 or whatever for a new hub, when the banjos @ vauxhall tightened it TO much

you can buy longer bolts from your local stockest, also if vauxhall did the bolts up too tight then take it to them and get them to sort it out!

FK always told us there were different coilover units for each of the Corsa C's. It might be that they're not interchangeable between the 1.2 and 1.8.

I was under the impression it was the bolt diameter, not the length that was the problem though...

joff im talking about the length of the wheel bolts which hold the wheel onto the car (which go into the hub)

they were fine on the SXi because they didnt need a 5mm spacer, however now with the 1.8 SRi (bigger calipers) i needed to use a 5mm spacer thus the bolts were to short,

Vaux prob knew this and just bodged it, screwing on the small bolts onto the car when they knew they where not upto the job.

I shall ring vaux a bit later..

Now im not sure if ill get the car later because we might not beable to get a new hub from vaux today :/

I was ment to be going over to newbury later too, to pick my HID lights up

Kahn are ment to be ringing me back, they been pretty good and surgested they could machine new wheels to suit my offset requirements (this not needind spacers at all!)

I dont wanna do the suspension my self either,

Yea it might just be a case of doing a few bolts etc etc, but i want the security of somone else (a profesional) doing it.

It might be easy, but if somone went wrong i would have nothing to go back on.

You might find the reason your hub is fucked is because they used standard bolts with the spacers. I've done it on a Corsa C before, and the bolts don't tighten it just rips the thread off, luckily for me it ripped the thread off the bolt rather than the hub. I would blame them using standard bolts with spacers rather than over tightening

should do itself rather than getting vauxhall to bodge it

j/k, just sounds funny saying it that way

red im 100% sure i got new bolts with my kahn alloys,

When they swapped all the bits over i wonder if they left the kahn bolts on the SXi and left standard bolts on the SRi,

Did you need spacers as soon as the wheels were fit to the Sri ?

I'm sure the kahn bolts will be like the Vauxhall bolts, in that they are designed for the wheel to fit up against the hub WITHOUT a spacer, and fitting spacers with these bolts will mean it'll fuck the threads. You need longer bolts.

The trouble with them is that if you only have 5mm spacers the bolts go too far into the rear brakes and foul on the shoes and stop the rear wheels turning

yea dave i did,

It was vauxhall who bought, and fitted the spacers for me,

the wheels just wouldnt fit on the car without fouling on the brake caliper, because the caliper is so much bigger on the 1.8 SRi.

I now need to find somewhere to get longer bolts from,

Kahn said he would ring me back about them..

Just spoke to the garage,

The salesman who sold me the car was mint, he said hes going to try and get me the money back on the hub etc etc

So hopefully all i need now is longer bolts on the front..
