I don't wash my cars much so Im abit of a beginner at this

first of all

my blue corsa is in the garage at the mo totally clean & I polished it afew days ago. im bored now & none of my mates are out so im thinking i might go and re-polish it & have afew beers whilst im doing it. is there any point in doing it? will it be any shinier once im done?

also

peeps with metalflake/flip/glitter paint jobs

are there any special polishes for this type of paint? or are any recommended? i use auto glymm @ the mo because its widely available & i've never really used any other polish. its brought the car up quite shiny already but to say it was resprayed afew months ago & its just been polished its not as shiny as other cars i've seen in the past.

thanks

ps. painz- please feel free to bum this thread & fill me with advice

to get my car shiney i use some t-cut then i use super resin polish, two coats if not been done for while, then i get the gloss protection out and give it 2-3 coats of that, it proper blings!!!!! then metal polish on exhaust and other metal bits, super resin polish on the alloys, some tyre shine, all good end us with a car looking like this...........

Can't go far wrong with Auto Glym mate - top stuff

To get it really shiny use the super resin polish and leave it on for at least an hour before buffing it and applying the semi-permanent wax (not sure of the name but the Auto Glym sign is in gold) - leave this on for at least an hour too.

Great thing about this is that everytime you wash it for the following 3-6 months it looks like it's been waxed.

Happy cleaning!

I have just washed me car. I used Meguairs Tech shampoo, then wiped it all dry, then polished it with some of the Meguairs Gold Class polish and finally applied some of the Meguairs Tech Wax. It's a fucking mirror

As far as I know the best thing to do is apply a polish and then a wax over the top. This will protect the paint so that the next couple of times you wash the car you only need to apply polish

i like auto glym, ok i got some meguires but i found it harder to use, not to sure on the difference in finishes, think ill stick to auto glym. repolish it and use the extra gloss protection, follow the instructions and ull be bling blinging away

Has the car been outside? If it has then you should re-polish so you get rid of any contamination in the paint from stuff in the air and acid rain e.t.c... If it's been in the garage since it was washed then it's not really necessary

right,

You paint on the blue corsa is new, so i wouldnt advise using t cut to get it shiny,

As its quite new paint i wouldnt bother with super resin polish,

You need an autoglym polish called "supream polish"

This is design for new paint, darker shades of paint, and cars which have a swirl effect in the paint (it reduces swirls)

Supream is not as easy to use as super resin. You dont need to much either,

Its designed for the trade so its quite a work out taking the polish off and buffing it.

My advise would be to go and use extra gloss now, Completely cover the car in it, leave it for 2-3 hours min and then buff it off.

Can i ask what you use to apply and remove the polish matt?

The gold stuff is easy to use,

You need to apply in a circular motion into the panels and then before it drys pull the cloth / applicator along the polish to make it into straight lines / stripes

When you remove the polish in a few hours time you need to use circular motion

using brand new cotton polishing cloths to apply the polish & a seperate one to remove it.

(not the auto glym ones- they were shite)

am i wrong to use this?

Oh and another thing,

The extra gloss is not really design to make the car any more shiny, its design to protect the paint.

Your not wrong, everyone does things there own way,

I personally use applicator pads from halfords

They do one called a liquid polish applicator (big red foam thing)

this is what i mainly use, if not a cotton pad applicator,

To remove the polish / buff the paint i use Auto Glym Perfect Polishing Cloths only.

I have used cheaper / other brand stuff, however i find the autoglym version alot softer and works better.
