can you get a flange from most domestic appliances stores? or do you have to find a flange specialist?

if so, has anyone got a number for flange.

"Flange" relates not only to the component piece, but also the surfaces comprising said flange. Therefore, the title of "some flange" is, in essence, identical to saying "some surfaces"
