You can put the XE into a Saxo!! There's four now on SSC - some company up in Lancashire make it. TTR Performance or something.

Not sure if it would be the same for the LET - don't even know if they let you use the F20...

personly i would get a well looked after 1.6 sport

2.0 are quick but i think the power is a little to much the 2.0 corsa is a high maintenence car,

a 1.6 is a little more relable and cheaper to look after

any engine can be unreliable if not looked after

the 2l are cheaper these days than a 1.6 to buy

im not slating it, i would love one.

but

im guessing pug-nut wants reliability over anything now a 1.6 would be more relable in the sense it wont snap driveshafts, wear out other components. i see posts every other day saying somthing has given up on a 2.0.

a 2.0 corsa is higher maintenence than a 1.6.

thats all im saying,

just that any engine can cos money if stuff goes wrong. i personaly had a 2l in corsa 6 yrs and only snapped 1 drive shaft and put a con rod through bottom end which cost £60 to put right and thats it apar from everyday sevicing

I wouldn't pay any more than £400 for a 2.0 XE.... You would need to replace quite a few bits before it is usable too.

It won't be used as an everyday car. Just something to play with. Will prob do the odd 20 mile trip to work or 2 mile trip to uni but that's it. I'll use the saxo for the hard miles.

May i suggest the X14XE engine as its cheap to insure, then just strip your corsa out and get some engine mods JR stylee.

I would agree that any engine is only unrelaible depending how it is looked after.

Just buy a Sport, a 2 litre is thousands and coming from a 1 litre Saxo, you will bend it.

if you have the money any GM engine will fit

imagine a Corsa with a 5.7 l V8 Ls1 GenIII engine out of a Monaro

ok bit ridiculous i know but if you have the time money and the resourse you could put any engine into any car just takes alot of time and Money...

Also Ian's point is very true going from a 1.1 Saxo to a 2.0 corsa will almost certainly end up in disaster...
