is the HSV Version Yet another rebadge job from Vauxhall... So much for VXR Styling.. no offence to Vauxhall as much as i love the cars i think they have taken it a bit far now..

Some pics..

HSV

VXR

So much for a VXR look to the car, front bumpers are the Exact same, Skirts are identical and the rear spoiler is the same, rear bumpers are the same Engine will still be the 400bhp 6.ltr V8 LS2 with an Estimated 0-60 time of 5seconds,

I read somewhere that the VXR will not be available till early march maybe even as late as the summer... you can already buy the Earlier models VT-VY HSV Monaro's (402bhp) from Linden Special vehicles and no doubt they'll have the new Monaro before March aswell...

Vauxhall are gonna have to pull their finger out now cos people will be anxious to get hold of this 400bhp monster and if LSV can churn them out Quicker Direct from HSV themselves they'll go!

Also Vauxhall will be taking Credit for the Monaro beign the fastest Ever production Vauxhall if the Monaro tops the Lotus Cartlons record, It isn't even built by vauxhall

And i know they are owned by the same company but you dont see Ford bringing the Falcon Across From Australia do you?? You dont see A Jaguar looking like a mondeo or a Mondeo looking like a JAG it seems GM qare the only company doing the badge swap thing...

oh and by the way before you say HSV is like the VXR range it isn't HSV's are sold by a different dealer and are not a part of GMH

quote:

HSV stands for Holden Special Vehicles. They are an aftermarket company which is jointly owned by Tom Walkinshaw Racing Group (TWR) (75%) and General Motors - Holden Australia (25%).

Mark Skaife Owner/Driver of the Holden racing team owns Tom Walkinshaws 75% of the Company,

GM have a small percentage of the company

it's the first time I've noticed the HSV is the Same as the VXR... and you would be right if it was a Vauxhall holden thing but it's not.. HSV is an Aftermarket Company that is only connected to Holden by the 25%share that GMH has in the company.. the other 75% is held by Mark Skaife owner/driver of the Holden racing team

So what were you saying about Holden/ Vauxhall.??

MK4-Astra the VXR is rumoured to cost £37k

VXR has been a joke from the beginning.

Aside from making cars like the VX220 into more of a hardcore version, the brand is too limp to work on "normal" cars like the Astra H and the Monaro.

Vauxhall badly need a marque that designates the car is something different, not just a trim level like SRi and GSi have become.

The Monaro works well and is getting all the right reviews, but it still can't cut the mustard with the HSV.

you forgot that Vauxhall are in fact just a badge and not really a company (i.e. OPEL design most things) and Vauxhall is just the UK division of GM so to expect them to redesign bumpers, skirts on the Monaro when its already been done by Holden seems unneccessary

Last I heard was that the Vauxhall brand would be phased out over the next few years as the Opel badge becomes more familiar to the end customer.

Part of the Holden/Vauxhall Monaro launch was supposed to hint to the public that Vauxhall is part of a bigger company.

All basic stuff to us, but would your mum for example understand that Vauxhall is the UK equivalent of Opel?

Once the change had been made to dealerships and their UK image, branding everything Opel would save hundreds of thousands on identical parts throughout the range.

Now Daewoo has gone Chevy, that means Vauxhall will be more likely than ever to go to Opel - who'd really want to drive Chevrolets

The badge is more important than the car it's on, but take VAG for example - shared components across Audi, VW, Seat and Skoda, yet there are definate differences in the car you get.

Hyundai's latest advertising claim it's a car first and a badge second...

...and they can't even get the car's right!

ah so thats where Aston Martin nicked the Crystal starter button from

Different kettle of fish i'm afraid.. the DB9 hasnt got many ford parts anymore..

The Jag XJ220 has ford escort door locks.... Half tennis ball over the lock a swift hit and you've just got yourself a nice Jaguar... do not attempt that as i tmay land you in jail tho...

Joff is right if i'm understanding his statement correctly (excuse me i'm hungover) "the badge is more important than the car" I assume that he's implying that the UK and Europe are badge snobs...

in which case he is correct

Yes.

I've been playing with an Octavia vRS recently and the car is genius.
Exterior is fairly sensible, green brake calipers, big discs, big wheels, nice exhaust.

Interior is half leather, light grey carpets, etc.

Engine is the pokey 1.8T, but the only thing that lets the car down is the lack of toys inside.

CD headunit and 6-disc changer and that's the lot. Apparently there's a grandad version of the Octavia which has all the heated seats and stuff, but if the vRS is marketed as the flagship sports Skoda, they need to rethink the spec.

Since the Leon, Seat have notched ahead of Skoda in the "cheap VW" category.
