Right, been getting quotes for spraying a front bumper ive got hold of, and there coming in at between £100-£150. Now when it comes to a spray can im quite handy, but obviously you cant really spray a full bumper with halfrauds cans .

Anyway, We've got a large compressor in the shed along with all the air lines i need and a cheapish Spray gun, so was considering having a go myself .

Just wondering how much paint am i gonna need?

How much is that gonna cost (Pearlescent blue as seen in my avatar)?

How much is primer/ lacquer etc gonna set me back?

Am i gonna need to thin the paint with Cellulose thinners, and to what proportion of thinners to paint?

Also any hints you can give me for better results like heat, dust protection etc .

Cheers for any help .

Nah, think the spray gun we have will be good enough tbh. Its not the best, but my dad found it ok when he was spraying some furniture with varnish. Cheers anyway .

Dont worry, i wouldnt trust halfords to mix paint . Theres a couple of local paint places i know too so i'll most likely use them .

Go to a paint mixing paint.

Get half a litre of ultra blue (will be slightly less than £20)
Get a litre of lacquer (cos you have to)
a Litre of 2K primer (again cos you buy it in litres)
A 5L can of thinners
A half litre tin of hardeners

Also ask if they'll give you some mixing cups as you normally have to buy 50

All of this will cost alot, but you will have enough primer and lacquer left to do more spraying.

Ok mate thanks! I recon gravity fed is better as suction wastes loads of paint and it doesnt ever seem to go as far.

i would personally say get it done somwhere being a hard colour like ultra blue to spray. cause if you mess it up you will have wasted almost the same amount of money.

thats what I would do anyway.

The amount of paint he will have to buy he can easily do it again without having to buy any more
