As some of you may know recently ive had a few problems with oil leaks.
Managed to sort them all out and now car is not leaking at all  Afterwards we filled it with a little too much oil so i emptied the lot and put the correct amount in of vaux 10w40 semi synthetic oil.
All has been fine for about a week and a half. Then for some reason my tappetts/lifters have become really noisy again? Its obviously worse when cold but usually the noise dissapears and now it gets qieter but is still evident 
I checked the oil level and it was ok, i put a tiny bit more oil in and i mean a tiny bit. It seemed to qieten it instantly. About 20miles later and a small rest when i took it out again, it was still sounding like a transit, not as bad but very noticable.
That was yesterday started it and drove after warming car up for 5mins and its just as bad as befroe i put oil in
Whats wrong with it? What can be done to silence the noise as its really embarrassing
Any help much appreciated

just bite the bullet and install new lifters and that will be it done.

i have a sealed head, willl this be a problem?
Its had different oil in it as it was uising loads of oil so ive probably had the equivilant to 3 oil changes in 1 month

^^ the xe/let heads can go porous.... this sorts that, should make no diffence to oils, lifters etc

So fitting wise, im gunna need a mechanic i guesS?
I know it sounds awfull but is it doin any damage to my car? will it run better with new lifterS?

i would also consider a new oil pump the lifters are the furthest point from the pump so if you had low oil pressue it would cause them to tap like a whore on crack

Yeh it will run smoother,
mine are getting a little noisy too,
but only one of them!
I say bite the bullet and get it sorted it shouldnt cost too much!

get new lifters, bit of a messy job to change them but its fairly straight forward

Who re-built your engine? Who fitted it? I'd have a word with them becuase you have had nothing but trouble from this conversion. Takes the piss really...

erm use your common sense if you buy an engine sold and seen and which is probably best part of 12-14 years old its bounds to have problems irespective of who fitted it?
And also if the engine was bought from a third party and was fitted by another person how is it the fitters fault that its going wrong?

I'd get an oil pressur egauge first, as the pressure relief valve can jam partly open on the engine, SBD do the nylon upgrade to help stop this.
Also lifts get full of cr*p and get noisey, it's
easy enough to clean them up, just go to the scrappy and pull the lifters from any 1.4/1.6/1.8/2.0L 16v vaux engine, as they are the same as the redtop/LET ones.
pull the lifter out the bucket and de-pressurese them and put them in some fresh oil and do the same you'll find it gets pretty balck, then reassemble them and stick them in the engine.
Warm it up (will sound like a sowing machine) the go for a good thrash and should be nice and quiet again.
As for comments of engine fitters:
any fitting fault, mounts, fuel lines, electrical, fair enough.
But to expect a person who has stuck it in to have to sort it?

I tried oto post earlier but i have been dragged off by customers.
Ollie calm down, theres no need for your outburst, ed is just expressing concern. Your reaction is a little bit much, Lee is having my car back to fit my rear discs next month hopefully so as u can tell i have no problem with his work/services.
Back on topic, J1400 thats really helpfull thanks, i am in the process of aquiring an oil pressure guage as ive heard they are quite usefull on turbo cars, i shall order it straight away 
I think i may be a wet blanket andf order some new ones as im not a great mechanic Ive done an oil change and changed a temp sensor and an air filer but thats as much as i can do lol.

Unfortuntaley a mechnice fitting them is fairly costly, as it will be about 3hrs labour.
Timign belt off
Cams out
Lifters swap and reverse of above.
When you get it back, double check that it's not leakign out of the cams seals, as if they have't been sealed in properly they ill piss oil out faster than you can say "G*d Damn it"
Common issue on this engine
Get the gaue in first and make sure pressures not odd.

i had this problem too mate.. when i first got it off of Anup... cahnged the oil completely inc oil filter etc..
sound went completely
try it mate.. cheapest/easiest things first mate.. hope its nowt serious.. but as you said its going back to lee for rear disks so im sure he will find it and fix it
