Hia folks,
I'm after some new rubber for my alloys I've bought lately and I'm completely stuck as to where to start!
I mean in the past with my black C I would just go to the local F1/Gimpy place and settle for whatever they had in stock.
But now with my XE coming quite near ( ) to being off its axle stands I need to get some new decent tyres for them!
My questions are:
How do I decide on the profile? I've always gone for the same profile my wheels had when they rolled out of the factory...and I obviously don't have Tractor spec for my car.
Can I shop online for a better deal? If so where, can anyone share their links?
How do I decide whats rubbish and whats decent? Are there any websites offering reviews on tyres?
all comments/q's welcome.

what size rims have you got?
what roads do you use mainly?
how many miles a week?
i normally go to local garage, tyres don't make much difference on my 1.4 doesn't exactly put them on the limit

all types, I live on county roads, surrounded by dual carriageways, and motorways.
Approx 100-300 a week?

i'd go for some rubber ones in that case
tbh i not a tyre expert, i rate them by how much i pay usually
i neither really experienced "shite tyres"
i thought Kuhmos were good

Kuhmos sounds like the dodgy cunt who fitted them.

Hey Willay i quite like the tractor tyres
Well profile will be 195/45/R15 or 195/50/R15
I usually ring rob marriott or my dad was quoted £180 fitted & balanced for yokos for those alloys

Think mytyres.co.uk also links through to proper reviews...
Falken Ziex ZE512's are my preferred choice over the Yoko A539's -- the Yoko's are awful in the wet and the XE used to get a bit scary...
If you want to pay a bit more I'd look at Bridgestone Potenza RE050A's as they're meant to even outperform Eagle F1s (that's if they make em in 15" -- sorry I've been doing my research for the Astra)

Higher number profile = comfier ride/worse handling as the tyre wall flexs
I use 205/40/17 quite a harsh ride but that could be my susp.
Makes that ive used: Falkens are AWFULL, especially in the wet and they dont last long.
Avons is what i have zz3's i beleive myke uses them too! They dont cost the eart hand handle LET power very well and last along time! They factory fit these to 182's i think too...
Michellin pilots and GY F1s meant ot be best and a Pnero pirrelli IIRC

i'd second jambo - Avon ZZ3s - I'm just waiting for my local place to phone back and quote me for 2 new ones for the front - but theyve done 15 000 easily - only need them changing cause a gimp who fitted new bearings foOKed the tracking
he's just phoned back £70 each for 205/40Z R17s

Easy choice, Goodyear Eagle F1's. GSD3's preferably.
Best tyre i've ever used.

dry wather theyre good - but I think theyre brilliant in the wet - really hold you on the road, masses of grip - plenty of water clearence - and they give way slowly and noticeably when you run out of grip - rather than just breaking loose
I had Yoko A539s before these and was impressed but not as much as these

I have Toyo Proxes T1-Rs. Grip is very good on them although I'm probably not pushing them to their limits with my car only being a 1.2

Also remember if you buy them over the net and take them down your local tyre fitter they will probably charge you a fair bit to fit them seen as though you didn't buy them from them.

I'm using T1-R's at the moment, I'm very impressed with them except the fast wear
