Getting to the age were big things are starting to go wrong with them...and big things need deep pockets...

I would steer clear if you have ay type of budget to stick too...

I wouldn't entertain a 10 year old scooby

My mate did and had nonthing but head gasket trouble with it. Apparently they are prone to this

Better cars out there IMO

I aint had a scooby no...BUT I have had an MR2 of the same age...same Jap stuff...

There great when there working but very very expensive to fix when they go wrong...and at that age they WILL go wrong...

Most young people who were able to get finance or lived near some docks, thats most scousers, certainly around here they're all tatty and hammered.

And without any racial motive whatsoever....most scoobys driven around Liverpool are driven by Blacks, Asians or just plain chavs...and as Ian said are very tatty...they seemed to be caned around for a year or two then sold on...

To get a serious answer you are better posting on scoobynet or SIDC. You often get owners cars coming up for sale that have a full history and some cars that have spent most of their life with club members as their owners.

My definition for 95 money would be 5k for a decent WRX. Although some appear to be selling at 3.5k.

Either way i would not by an impreza from the autotrader alone, or even from a dealer in some cases. Have seen dealers destroy these cars by using incorrect fuel in some cases.

History is paramount with these cars, and its a good bet that you have a reasonably good idea of what you are getting if you purchase one from a club member.

This is the only way i would by another one now, i would feel like im buying the car blind otherwise.

there is a 96 WRX with decent/sensible mods lots of history and 10k on a rebuilt engine by API for £4800 on SN atm

Expensive to run, expensive to service, expensive to fix if they go bang.

You have got to get a minter really, I personally wouldnt entertain a 95 car myself, just too much history. Also, because of the not so brilliant build quality, the classic cars dont age very well, they need to be pampered!

When they are running well, they are a great car. I would personally look for a late UK classic MY99 - 00 with lowish mileage and spend a little bit more, £7-8k.

I agree with SetH. For a scooby of that age, i would be looking on SIDC for a car with a good history. I got my WRX from a guy in his 40s who was a member of SIDC. Although the car is old, it has a fsh since its been in the uk and has been well looked after with regular services and a cambelt change (a must on a car of that age!)

They are guzzlers, they are expensive to service, they do need looked after, parts are expensive, insurance is unreal but then a subaru isnt a car, its a hobby!!

STD Uk turbos arent as quick as LET corsas

Most are driven by chavs who have administered hideous modifications.

Strangely i like the estate/wagon variety on the older ones Lots of modding potential but never kid yourself that it will be cheap.

The special edition cars like the sti's P1s etc etc are the only ones id ever desire (hoping to aspire to a p1 next year) but they are alot more expensive


Alot of car for the money, but if you find an unmolested example and promise not to fit lexus lights then i dont see why they aint marvelous


Oh and head gasket problems youll find common place on most turbo charged cars, not just scoobys
