Looking at getting one for christmas as really cant think what i want?

How accurate are they?
Do they pick up all the speed cameras, laser guns etc?
Are they stil LEGAL?
Are they worth the money?

Cheers

like all detectors tho they only pick up laser guns after its been fired, obviously if its pointing at you, its too late.

new one has just been released that is a lot smaller iirc. I had the old road angel (now classic) and it was very good indeed, you do drive more carefully as you are more aware of your speed. I sold mine to get the Road Angel 2 but the year subscriptions put me off with the old you could pay a life amount subscription.

I have now got a Tomtom 500 with speed camera POI and that does the job just as well adn I have sat nav.

its true that they only pick up the laser if its fired at or near your car, but all mobile laser vans MUST be in a position that has been pre arranged. therefore if you keep your road angel up to date, it will warn you of the location of the van before you try and drive past it.

PLUS even if they do target you with a laser gun, they must do so 3 times to get a reading that will stand up in court. if they target you at 59 in a 50 zone, the raod angel will alert you thet you are being targeted and by the time they target you a 2nd or third time you could have slowed down.

i have one and its saved me a few times

So your saying as the certain vans i see are always in the same place that they will be registered there and as long as i update the road angel then it will say that location everytime i drive past even if there isnt a van there?

What about mobile roadworks? and if theres a camera there? will it only pick up if its been registered there and uploaded or just by the signal the camera gives off?

THEY WILL BE REGISTERED ON THE ROAD ANGEL DATABASE

but, they cant 'detect' signals apart from when a laser is pointed at your car.

all that happens is that the co ordinates will be updated by whoever into the database and as ur in that area the road angel obviously knows this and alerts you. and yes will do this even if a van isn't there.

If a van was also there and was tracking you with the laser it would propably change from the mobile camera screen visual and beep to the laser one.

Same with the roadworks, it would need to be registered in the database if it was one of the fixed gatsos etc as the device doesn't actually pick up the cameras itself.

Sorry if you knew half of that already

Hope it helped in some way anyway.

If your gonna spend £400 on tom tom you might as well get a Road Angel Navigator...

a new detector etc + navigation.

I've been shot at with laser, which made me see the police man and slow down - but didn't get nicked. So he could've just got a reading when I slowed down or he error'd first time and would've got me 2nd time he tried to get my speed - but I already knew he was there due to my road angel 2 going off.
