Back in the summer, i hadnt been driving long and i was a little bit naieve (sp) not to check my water levels under the bonnet. I was driving into town wiht my mate when he pointed out my car was hot. i said "open the window then" but he told me to look at the temp guage, and it was edging into the red surely this not being a good sign i paniced, and wanted to park the car up asap, but we were a lil way from the car park. the needle kept creeping up. my mate then told me to put the heaters on full blast and open the windows, being summer i was like wtf but he explained that the heaters use some of the heat from the radiator or something like that. But anyway, the needle started to move back, and it actually worked!!
Who else knows of this? If you didnt, then thats just a handy little tip, it wont cool down completly, but will give you some more time to stop and get some water in there
