is the sri faster higher group to insure? i what a sport but finding it to find one need it by 1/3/2006 mite end up getting a 1.2 sxi BHP?

Depends, some SRI's were 8valves, all sports were 16v.

I've got an SRI hence the name . Also had a sport though and there's definately a difference. The sport always seemed quicker to me. more responsive on acceleration etc. But the SRI isn't the slowest car in the world. (Just no the fastest) mines stock and insurance wise i pay £400 fully comp 21 with 2yrs ncb

not really, not too bad, good for what they are

the early sri was a 1.4 8v, late sri was 16v and all sports are 16v, the 16v engine is the better option IMO

what do u want to expect from a 1.2? they are never gonna be quick. its 1.4's onwards u want to go for being young.

wouldn't know m8? but to do the maths i wouldn't say the sxi is gonna be quicker than the sport since the sport is a 16valver and a 1.4. depends what you want. If you want cheap insurance go for the sxi. If you want half decent insurable performance (and you've got to get a corsa) go for the sport or sri.

sport has a better spec, comes with electric windows, alloys, alarm etc

the sri is an 8valve but not all are, some are 16 valves. The sri's were only in production for about two years i think, and some models (like mine) dont have sun roof or leccy windows. with the sport, they were 16v and often had the perks of electric windows and sun roof etc. bar that, its just the badge thats different.

oh, and the late sports had lotsu tuned suspension, so they handle better

and the facelift bumpers are nicer too

My SRi 16v used to be quicker than my mates sport, I think his engine was a bit fooked though.

also another thing to consider mate is if the car goes wrong.

a 8v sri will usually cost less to repair than a 16v sport. this is why i got a 8v sri. im not saying n e thing will go wrong but it should be considered.

The SRi with 16v engine is mechanically identical to the Sport. Difference must be down to the individual cars. They are both 90bhp X14XE engine.

SRi 8v has 82bhp so not quite as powerful.

SXi 1.2 16v has 65 bhp and is not in the same league.

Thats why his engine must have been fooked. It used to make loud tapping noises!

What about early Sports (pre facelift) that did'nt have Air Con? Compared with later Sports (post facelift) that had Air Con? Surely they latter would be slower.
