stopped at a roudabout, heard this really loud skid, few seconds later huge crash...realised some fker had gone into the back of me! got out the car, he started shouting at me saying 'well there was no reason to stop!' (there was a car coming round the roundabout ) he obviously had no intention of stopping at the roundabout. must have been going 60 easily by the length of the skid and the sound of him hitting me! saw his car, front end done in, definantly a right off, bonnet was totally up....looked at mine.....an inch long crack in my bumper, couldnt believe it thank god i drive a tank! was expecting to have lost my back end! the pikey exentually admitted to it being his fault, swapped details and he text me last night asking if we can keep the insurance companies out of it and him just pay to fix my car, hmmm? im glad nath was here, i was too stressed lukcily he sorted it all for me! very shook up though

take the bumper off and take a look at the damage underneath, bumpers like to bend, the metal bits behind it tend not to.

Fair enough - we know how valuable NCB are. Just make sure you've got a load of contact details for him so he doesn't do a runner

personnally I would go thru insurance and make sure you have no injuries, whiplash etc
no good not reporting it to insurance etc then finding you have injuries that require physio etc

Be carefull if you do it outside the insurance. I gave a freind a shot of my bike and he crashed it and agreed to pay for it to get fixed if i didnt go to the police but after paying half he refused to pay the rest.

make him sign something if you are not going through the insurance, my mate got bummed for 400 quid when someone hit him, his was on a drive so there was nothing he could do in the end to get the money. there was no proof that the kid accepted liability.

right, as the damage is just a crack, its just basically goina cost to get new bumper and have it sprayed (had estimates of about £500). would you recommend that I:
1) get it fixed, get him to pay for it, not get insurance involved
2) get money off him, not bother fixing it (its only little crack) and just put the £500 towards holiday
3) go through insurance, piss him off, get it fixed....will this have any implications to my insurance? it wasnt my fault but i knwo they can sometimes be a bit dodgy....?
