my friend has an 8v and they hardly budge past 70..... any ideas? or is a bigger engine what he really needs?

They do 97 according to Parkers, maybe an indicated 105ish, but must take all day to get there

mines only 1.2 8v and its awfull for motorways its slow as owt and it dont help havin a kit on, its a case of a hill get in the slow lane coz it drops 10mph or more,like u said down hills great lol

yeah, down hills they seem to pick up, but you can hear the strain on the little engine! aawww but to be fair you can't beat anything in them unless you try really really hard, and there is a massive hill and you have no weight in the car! ha!

Mind you, it was a while ago, when I gave a damn about the engine and bothered to put oil in, so now thats not the case it's prob faster without having to pump it round

Yea you really have to drive with your foot right to the floor with them lol (well I do...), and it sounds like it needs a 6th gear even when you're only doing about 70.

gets a yrs ncb for much less than a 1.6 - 2.0 or whatever. For a first car they do the job.
