Put a dump valve on a mk4 golf tdi? will it make a wtish kinda sound or just sumthin crappy?

There's no point in really trying to disguise the fact it's diesel, the black smoke is a real giveaway

newer cars are hardly noticeable though.

heard a dump valve and a full exahust on an ibiza fr and it didnt sound like a diesel at all and im guessing its more or less the same engine

Was asking coz my mate has a 306 tdi n his has full stainless magnex system n dump valve but sounds bollock all like a deisel, so was wonderin if i could do it to a golf, coz i saw a silver 1 on the autotrader site with 19s n tints on for just ova 4k.

you can get them, but they become annoying after a bit, cos they are dumping all the time due to the small rev range. They sound ok, but i would get annoyed with one after a while...

Dump valve on a diesel is like a dump valve on a non turbo petrol.
Its just connected to the break vacuum and a solenoid. Nothing like one on a turbo petrol.
Why would that make any difference to buying a car though?

You can get DVs for a diesel, and they dont sound too bad on the more modern cars, however the way Diesel engines/Turbos work means that it would be entireley useless and a waste of money which could go towards something decent like a remap.
Miltek make good exhausts for VAG diesels, they allow for the performance aspect of a third party exhaust but will not make you sound like a cunt

It doesnt make a diference really just i can get the golf for around £100 more insurance than im payin for the corsa but i wanna dump valve but cant get insured on any other turbod cars i like as iv had 2 claims.

Coz iv been driving the mrs evo n love it! i do know y a dv is fitted but like a said its gonna hav 2 b a deisel if i want a turbo 4 the next yr or so anyway.

Also i wanted 2 go down the euro look with a golf - smooth n low. but with it being a deisel it will b undoubtadly cheaper to run than the petrol guzzling corsa until i save enough for a civic type R
