Hey im new to the forum but any help would b appreciated, im 17 looking for a first car, and i want a corsa. I've got £1500 max, and roughly the same for insurance. Any advice you could give would b appreciated.

anythink but a 1.2 8v, try to get a 16v one

1.2 8 valves may be slow as fook but are the most reliable things you can get, no sensors to go wrong either

can get sri's for peanuts, i insured 1 when i was 17 for not muuch over a grand, worth a try mate

I agree with 1.2 8v, fine and simple and just put on higher spec parts or newer
iv been quoted £1600 (with provisional) for my 1.2 8v

thanks for ur advice, i want something with reliable but with a bit of punch. not compared to the sort of things u lot have but in relation to other stock cars of the size

could try to get an early Sri then. 1.4, so cheap to tax and run, nice and reliable, and fairly nippy

if you want something with a bit of a punch you can forget a 1.2 8v mate, the only way mine would get 0-60 anywhere near quick would be down a cliff

Well I wanted somethin with a bit of punch for my first car but couldn't get insured on anything for less than 2000 quid. If I was the main user of my car it would be costing me £1650 just for a Corsa Merit 
For a 1.4 SRi I was quoted £2300 cheapest. Fair enough considering it's insurance group 7 which is more than double the Merit 1.2's insurance group

i could insure a 1.4 16v sport for about 1800 quid when i was just passed.

does anyone have any experience with a 1.0 12v, good for insurance but the 1.0 part is bit off puttin.

They are pretty slow mate, not a very good engine. May be worth just getting a 1.2 8v then working your way up to something better after a year or so.

It cost me just under 1600 to insure an sri at 17. Then somehow it went down to 450 fc after a year

thanks for clearin that one up. Think 1.2 is the way forward then maybe slap a bit of a performance mod on there after ive got sum NC.

If you can stretch get a 1.2 16v but I would just leave the engine standard as its not worth trying to get any decent performance from them

when your insureing it try quinn direct mate. my first car is a fiesta xr2i group 14 insurance and it was 1413 in my own name and drive any car on it and that was at 18 never had any no cliams either was my first policy so try maybes a corsa sri with them  hope you get it sorted

get a 1.2 thrash to an inch of its life n it'll laugh right back at you

think the 0-60 on the 1litres is nearly 20 seconds lol.
