" Should I buy a 106 Gti?"

Piece OF FRENCH CRAP!

lately about once a week I have something fucking falling off / failing etc. Now it's making some fucking annoying noise which may either A ) be drive shaft bearing or B ) be gearbox or C ) be something else.

I'm gonna be fucked off if it's gearbox as it only got done the other day

I think I'm gonna just chuck some petrol over it and set fire to it in a field.

and 160 bhp cammed gti doesn't feel that much quicker than a 141.5 bhp non cam'd non manifold'd non remapped gti.

So save yourself £1000 kids.

I think I'm gonna go to bed and cry now, as being a poor student A ) I can't really afford to fix it and B ) I'm gonna be wasting all my time I should be revising, trying to fix this crap.

When this car works - it's awesome but when it doesn't its expensive. Kyle T it may be a torque less wonder but it'd leave your Ibiza behind no probs. Mine passes my mates modified 181 bhp Ibiza Cupra.

What do I do about this noise then? If I take it to a garage they'll instantly say its gearbox and try to charge me £1000

I have no belief that it wouldnt.

Speed aint everything when it comes to cars though IMO, hence me having a big heavy diesel

I told my parents about it and they said the following comments.

- Well you shouldn't of thrown so much money at it (I.e. just spent a load more on camming it and remapping it)

- Well that's what you expect when you tune these things up as the standard parts can't take it

- Well that's what you expect when you take it on track days, drag strip etc

- BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA.

Cheers guys, load of help - so even if I do fix it, they'll blatently be like 'Oh no, your not going on another track day or drag strip - you only just fixed it the other day'.

They always associate when something brakes with something I've done - It can't just 'happen' it can't be general wear and tear or the car getting old. There always has to be an 'I told you so' there

Thats becuase the french are always on strike, you car most likey was built my migrate workers they go in to cover it.

Either that or it was built in covertry which is worse.

If it is the gearbox would it might not be a good idea to get it fixed before it falls out and cost more?

Joke is, up until about 2 months ago - not a single thing had gone wrong on my Gti from over a year and a half of owner ship.

Then all of a sudden everything seems to be going wrong

8 stage essay

when you come to sell it, i'd advise you don't try to advertise it on here after that

hard luck about your problems though
if you drive hard, you must expect to have to replace bits.

Yeh it's like children. Your allowed to hit or tell off your own kids, but anyone else doing it is wrong. Well actually isn't it against the law to smack your own kids now? - ahhh I'll shut up and go to bed

I think I was just remembering the good times when it works correctly. It handles so well and is pretty quick really - Just don't get to enjoy it at the mo as I constantly think 'hmm I take this corner quick and the wheels will fall off and I'll be in that bush'
