Just rang adrain flux about me puttin a 2.0 16v engine out of a calibra in to my corsa...they came back with £2,200 tpft im 19yrs and have 1yrs ncb...She said my corsa sport 1.4 is a group 12 and the 2.0 16v is a group 20..

Unless she insuring me a C20let then i can understand the price but i thought the 1.4 sport a 6-7 group..and a 2.0 16v group 16 ..

Don't get me wrong im happy with the price i got but something has fucked up somewhere what u reckon...
Also what cars can 2.0 16v corsa keep up with or maybe even beat..

Thanks danny_lad

How you can afford all that at 19 I don't know but still, at least you're doing it legal

Just because the car it came from was group 16 doesn't mean the new car is...if you stuck a redtop into a Mini the power to weight would be immense so surely that couldn't be just group 16?

Say whatever but make sure you tell them the engine code and say it's not got a turbo, just make sure they get the facts right. To be honest 2k isn't a bad price for a 19 year old on a redtop IMO!

Be better off with a 1.6 16v on TBs

Seriously though, 1.4 group 12!!!

I got a quote on a VXR for when I hit 20 and it was cheaper than that quote.

Though i guess its different with engine conversion/smaller car etc.

That's certainly not the sort of price I'd be happy with either. I wouldn't pay £2200 for FC, let alone TPFT.

I would be paying nearly 2200 on a 1.2 8v merit if I was the main driver of my car

so if they take the two insruance groups of both the cars to make the overall insurance premium, does that meen if you stick a red top into a 1.2 8v it would be cheaper?

as its only group 2 or something stupid compared to the sports 12

for that much money you could build a 1.6 16v on tb's and have cheap insurance and a faster car than a 2 litre corsa.
