Maybe invest in some more fans to cool it down, tbh i would think its becasue of the weather we've been having, wont do much for them being on for very long

Put in more fans or take off the side of the case. Could be some sort of hardware problem causing so much heat.
Are the fans running and turned the right way around? You want them blowing the air out.

Could be the thermal paste between the heatsink and processor.
Hot weather isn't really a good enough excuse imo.
How do computers in places with much more heat than us for longer in the year survive?

I have 2 fans one built into the power supply and 1 on something else not to clued up when it comes to stuff inside computers
Where the computer is its always cool so cant see the weather been a problem with the temp of the computer
I though about taken off the case but though the dust ect might cause problems..
Is there some sort of way i could find out what temp the computers running at so i know that iam not in any danger of blowing up the computer?
I used to be able to run my computer for days even weeks without heat problems
Fans are all running have done a check on them all turns fine ect

motherboard monitor used to be the prog for temperature monitoring but the site seems to be down and I know the guy stopped developing it ages ago.
I'm sure somebody will be able to tell you whats the best thing now.
How did you know it was overheating if you dont' know the temps?

lol.
you havent said how its overheating?
do you mean the case is too hot to touch, or its overheating and crashing?
you can get some half decent cheap fans from http://www.thecoolingshop.com/
make sure you have atleast one 120mm fan on the back of the machine and one at the front and that they are both running well.
something like one of these should help dissipate most of the heat.
I have a similar problem, except mine is self inflicted. i have my PC in a neat little cuboard (i dont shut the door when its on).
So ive had to install a deep 230v mains fan on the back of the PC which i manually switch on/off when i use the computer, it shifts loads of air and is extremly quiet.

Watson, your CPU is probably throttling back because of temps, hence the slow speed. tried running it with the case open? check fan speeds and air flow direction. this could be simply because a fan is facing the wrong way, blowing air in at the wrong spot and creating a heat spot

all good points here.
check the fans to make sure they are working
check the fans to make sure they are blowing air in the right direction
CABLE TIE! your cables up to improve airflow in your case
Ensure the CPU is attached properly and thats coolign down okay...
How many drives and stuff are you running? Mayeb its tiem to invest in a new big case?

87 sounds slightly too hot for a newish CPU.
new CPUs i would expect to be a fair bit below 50C.
but thats normal for a slightly older CPU.
have you got a fan at the front and back of pc case?

I'd check the heatsink on the cpu.
Unless the cpu is faulty it would never get to that temperature if the hsf was on properly.
I'd do it sooner rather than later though because you don't look to have a shutdown on overheat.

The computers about 2years old
heatsink? whats that
I have the case off the computer now and have a mains fan behind the computer
Still running about 77/80
Going to take the computer to the shop next week as the problem with the 100%CPU and maybe get a few more fans inside the computer ect
Bloody more money

Whats using 100%cpu?
The heatsink and fan are the ones that will be roughly in the middle of the case and keep the processor cool.
If you dont' know what you're doing I would just take it to a shop though yes.

Nothing that i can see of.. i only have msn and the internet running
Even when on startup its at 100% aswell
Yeah i do see a large kind of fan in the middle inside the case will take it to shop tho and get them to replace the heatsink if they can
How much do you think it is for them to replace one?

Depending on what one you buy they are about a tenner. How much you will be charged by a shop though I coudlnt' tell you.
How do you know cpu is running 100% if you don't know whats running at 100%?
It's not the system idle process is it?

39 processes i suspect there is some spyware shit on there, get adaware and spybot S&D, run them and see if they find any crap that could cause 100% CPU usage, also, you may want to think about a fresh install of windows XP
