Madness, granted Sunderland are a bigger club than Bolton but with limited resources etc and what he's done at Bolton he should be aiming higher IMO.

He was going for the England job, now Sunderland He's a nutter if he goes there. The Championship is a very strong league this year, Mackems wont settle for anything but promotion. Its a big job.

I wouldnt. Even though S'land had an awful season, they still pulled in nearly the same crowds as Bolton. Only have to looks when they had Phillips/Quinn banging them in there were pulling in 40k+ crowds which Bolton could only dream of.

I can sort of understand the reason behind this move IF Quinn and the new board have money to give him I could see Sam pulling Sunderland back into the Premier and pushing them on into a top half side.

Long plan though.
