How many of you lot do work on your cars yourself???
I’m just curious, as there are a lot of nice cars floating about and some quick ones too. But how far do people go themselves in order to get their car to well how they want it.

i have respect for people who do bodywork themselves and learning from their mistakes and that. but i would rather pay a bodyshop to do it as itl be done perfect then, hopefully
all my cars have been done professionally really, but in september il be doing my corsa all by myself and my mate. im not too arsed if it wont look mint, i just want a hobby really and learn how to work on engines etc

Ive done everything myself bar spraying the bonnet and bumper.
Engine change was done by a member on here and me, and this weekend i will be attempting to change the head with a hand from a mate, dont have the money to take the car to bodyshop's to get skirts fitted etc which is why its not perfect...
I think if i had the choice things im not to sure on although wanting to find out how there done i would rather take it to a professional, espicially bodywork..

I certainly do Iain... I was just about to post that its good to see lads getting involved and not paying a garage but then Iain pops up pmsl. Just kidding mate, I hate taking my car to a garage. So much so the only time i use one is for an mot test pmsl.

I try and do stuff myself, but only just started recently...
I can't do much, but started with smaller things and gradually getting confidence to try bigger jobs myself too.
Only a couple of months ago i had a couple of friends come over for a day and we rebuilt one of the heads on my car and fitted 12 new valves. Would've cost me over £1000 at a garage, but cost me just over £100 by doing it myself with help of friends..
I have some bodywork bits that i need to do now. Going to attempt them myself first, but just trying to motivate myself to do it as i don't really know where to start...

U know the score with me, had to do bloody headgasket on my drive in the sun a few weeks ago,
My car only goes in the garage for its mot to, if anythin i cant fix goes wrong with the engine i'll just get another 1 (with a turbo this time)
As for bodywork... i cant do it so it will go bodyshop, unless its fitting a splitter or sumthin that dont need paint or bog.

I have done all the work on my car, bar the spraying of items. I work in a garage so would be stupid of me to pay someone to do stuff for me.

I did the body work with a mate in my garage but had to get it sprayed by someone else on the Corsa.
However lately I am doing Mechanical stuff due to the joys of my lady buying shite cars but I tend to just jump straight in to most things as I am very inquisitive

i do most of it myself, and if i had somewhere to do bodywork i'd have a bash at that too,
i thought last year about bying a dirt cheap corsa 1.2 ls and putting a bodykit on it with my own hands then flogging it to some chav for heaps of money
it does save lots of money, as you can buy less than perfect cars and fix them yourself,
thus making lots of pennies to spend on other things
