The 360 is the daddy at the moment, get it. You won't be disappointed.
360 is a million times better than the normal Xbox. There's a bigger difference between those two then there was between the PS and PS2.

ps3 and 360 are as good as equal.
Differences are in the way they are programmed.
When the ps3 has been out for a while the graphics on both of them should just about match.
Good thing about the ps3 is, for the cost, you are getting a blu ray player thrown in.
All in it's not really as expensive as everyone is making out.

isnt there the possibility the 360 will have a blu ray similar drive developed?

It has an hd-dvd add on atm.
Original 360 price + hd drive = just about ps3 price.
There are no public plans to develop a blu-ray drive but it plugs in via usb anyway so if blu-ray won the format war i'm sure they would quickly bring one out.

I'm a sony fan.
Facts are if you want it right now buy a 360.
If you don't mind waiting and paying the ps3 price wait for that.
No point judging on graphics or how powerfull the console is because its 6 and half a dozen.
Another consideration would be if you want any console specific games.
PS3 also comes running linux iirc.

Did you enjoy GTA on the PS? If so Saints Row is a similar game but for the 360. Ghost Recon is also good, then there's Test Drive, plus new games are coming out all the time.

play usa only do dvds, there is probably other places though. But personally better to just wait for the uk one to be released.

the jap version will be region 2
also ps3 is unlikely to have region-locked games...

It was supposed to be region free for games but greg_m posted something about it not being.
I've not been interested enough recently to check up what the current situation is.

I'm not even going to look at that article steve.
E3 2005 says it all.
How can they comment on the ps3 when it's not coming out for ages.
Edit to say benchmarks mean nothing.
They have exactly the same raw processing power.
It is just the way it's used.
As with any console it'll take a while for developers to extract the best from it.

if you have a butchers around, the current weighing against the PS3 hardware specs and current information of memory performance etc, the 360 will caine the PS3 three fold! There was a thread about a month ago that had loads of info posted!
But like john said, both consoles use the power they have slightly differently, therefore its a bit hard to say 100% - but sony have delayed it, so im sure they might changed a few things to get it up to par/faster than the 360!
Personally i would get the 360, already starting to come down quite a bit in price and performance wise i doubt it will be any slower than the PS3 and games are only pushing one of the cores on the 360, so plenty of power left
