Went out for one of my 4am drives up dartmoor earlier. Alot of it is only 40mph due to sheep/horses in the road. Was going up a hill and was down to about 35 then out of nowhere this rabbit runs out right infront of my car. Hit the brakes (and locked the wheels) but couldnt stop in time.

One bang and small bump later and i think the rabbit didnt make it . The car seems ok but there was a fairly unpleasant smell about it when i got out to try and have a look at it in the dark, will have another look now its lighter .

It's a horrible feeling hitting animals......I've hit one, a pigeon and he ended up underneath my front tyre Looked in the rear view mirror to see what looked like a pillow fight

Yeah, wasnt a nice feeling at all

Checked my car, alittle bit of blood splatted on the drivers corner pf my bumper and a few spots else where. One of the clips holding the front splitter one has broken too, thankfully on the splitter itself and not the bumper. Time for a new one .

No it died straight away. There was blood and feathers in his car for ages afterwards. Gets everywhere and no matter how much he cleaned it he kept finding traces of it

My sister hit a pheasant a while back and did £300+ worth of damage!

I wouldnt brake for anything less than a dog though, not slam on anyway. Would rather risk hitting it than crashing the car properly!

i hit my first animal last week, i slammed on but still hit a cat that had pegged it in front of the car, it clearly didn't want to live. my mate was in a car acouple of hundred metres behind me and said it was fine and ran off though, oh the irony. car was fine too

My Dad hit a stag last weekend on the a10 doing about 60-70 mph. One of the antlers went through the windscreen on the passenger side where my Mum was sat, luckily didn't go too far through. The Police had to drag the Stag out of the road after it had been run over a fair few times. It wrote of his 53 plate Mondeo though!
