as u may know my FK Coilovers decided to brake about a month ago.

Anyway - i emailed FK and they emailed me back the other day basically saying it was own fault that they as they were not fitted properly, that the instructions that come with it state an additional bearer is needed when fitting (as they don't come with one) and that cause stress on the joint and for it 2 snap, etc.

Now, i don't have the box or instructions 2 check this, but can anyone who has got them check this for me please?

i know of prob 10+ people on corsa-c.co.uk who have FK's fitted to their corsa's without the bearing without any problems, the common census being that this was just a design fault but still worked fine with the bearing.

What shall i do now? i'm not happy with it all, a mate did suggest exposing it 2 a mag, etc?

opinions and advice welcome

Talk to them about the safety issue.

Can they catagoriclly say the instuctions leave with EVERY BOX. Bet they dont / cant.

I would play the safety card, point out that if this had happened at serious speed or on a track, the result could have been fatal.

Talk to trading standards see what they have to say.

Play hardball - no company wished to engage in a health and safety issue like this, they would rather settle.

The piece before the 2 suspension bolts I added off my original Corsa Shockers. Is that what they mean?

Yep. I used that.

Did you fit it to yours? Looking at the shape of it, it takes the pressure off the Spindle.

Did you get a part like that on your original C shocks?

I could see that there was a part missing when I put the coilovers together. Took me a while find and put the part off my original shocker on. So I can see why they broke now, would be putting a load of stress on it.

Wasn't the top mount though Adam? From what I can see it's the part that fills the gap between the FK shocker bearing and the Top mount?

yeah there is a top mount bearing on my original suspension, altho it is a lot bigger and couldn't see how it would fit onto the FK's.

yeap - about 20mm thick and 40/50mm long - this snapped so the front unit was no longer connected 2 the car at the top.

I just sat it on top and pushed it through. It looked a bit big, but sat flush to the top mount side in the wheelarch. Are you running standard shocks again on the Corsa now? Have you taken the coilovers off?
