spraying some carb cleaner into the air intake system whilst reving the engine at about 4000rpm.will it clean the icv enough to stop it sticking

that wont clear the icv, its not inside the inlet but actually bolted to the throttle on the outside

Thats right but it pokes through the throttle body into behind the butterfly doesnt it?I had a sticking icv and did this and it seemed to fix the problem for a few weeks till i could get a new one.

wont work anyway.

the ICV is only open when the tps gives a reading of 0 (throttle shut)it needs to be sprayed in when engine is at idle with throttle shut.

even then it wont clean the icv very well as it needs to be removed to clean it properly.

also this wont be affecting the problem you have with your engine, it certainly wont solve it as your problem is happening with throttle open.

you NEED TO REMOVE IT THEN SOAK IN CARB CLEANER, DRY OFF THEN REPLACE (you will need a new O ring)

its a small ring, when you remove the ICV you will see it, you need another one otherwise if you reuse the old one it might not seal properly and then run like crap

o ring will be fine as long as its not damaged, smear it with grease when you re-fit it.

mine looked ok but then when refitted it caused a small air leak. for less than a quid its not worth not changing it
