Does anyone have there fan up to a manual switch?

been discussing this and id like more control over when the fan kicks in as at moment it doesnt at all ut if direct to battery it kicks in


do people find its better having it automatic so can keep car temp down or that ecu controlling is better

if it doesnt kick in, the fan switch in the radiator isn't working. buy a new one, then it'll be fine.

yea but if it kicks in a 108 does anyone have there kicking in cooler or manually for better control?

Im gonna put my fan on a switch soon. All you gotta do is find the fan switch on the rad (should be at the bottom on the left, looking from the front) cut into the two wires coming out of the switch and join two other wires onto them, then root them through the bulk head and on to a switch

My fan only comes on at 100 degrees, is that not a bit too high??

100deg is normal.

The cooling system is pressurised, so the boiling point of coolant is raised to about 120deg if i remember rightly.

Theres no need for manual switch(unless high revving track car or something)
the thermostat will turn the fan on when its needed....

corsa b's fan should kick in between 97-99 degrees

u can get switches that cut in at lower temps

I've got one cos I didn't like the fan not cutting in until 100*c. Now comes in at about 92*c. You'll need a cool running thermostat as well though to lower the running temp to about 88*c otherwise the fan will be on all the time.

mines on a switch bud, i've put a neat little switch above the fog light button so it doesnt look out of place, just stick it on & off when you want!

ive got one on mine as it gets to hot in summer somtimes . i just spliced into the wires and route them into the dash . works for me . if it spins wrong way just swap wires over

when towin my Dad's car often over heated so he fitted a second fan with manual switch. seemed to work if i remember correctly

so not to battery as well


litteraly patch into the wires then onto the switch and switch is spins wrong way

how do i know if its spiinning right way?

well if airs being blown in the hot air goes somewhere


so when its sat in my garden i will feel the hot air blown outwards will i not

When i bought my car it was wired up manually cause the guy i bought it off said the fan switch didnt work, i did, it just came in too high cause it had a deisel swith on, which come in at higher temps, i just changed it to a petrol switch and got rid of the manual one.

it sucks the cold air thru the rad, then blown into bay.

it wouldnt work other way, as it would push air from bay (exhaust manifold) thru the rad.

Mines a 1.4 16v Ecotec, my mates a mechanic and sorted the switch for me, said you cant tell the difference by looking, but some are deisel switches, some are petrol.
