A mate of mine has offered me his Clio 172. Its an x reg and has had some work done to the engine, exhaust, filter, lowered. Had a new gearbox and clutch also. He's offered it to me for £3,000 which has really tempted me now.
But i really dont know what to do because i've only had my new car a couple of months and i do really like it. But the Clio's newer and i've always liked them too.
What would you guys do? Im stuck.

if you do buy it throw the filter in the bin and get a standard one. New renaults and clio sports in particular do not react well to these. And if hes needed a new geerbox and clutch he must drive it very hard. Seems like a good price tho.

Ohh some mixed opinions here
Im just finding out mileage etc of the clio. He had the gearbox done when he bought it as it was on its way out when he bought the car. The things making me lean towards it are its newer and will be a bit quicker, comfier and handle better too. But then i love my car too.
Insurance shouldn't be a problem, 21, 4ncb. And the corsa is insured as a 2 litre

Keep the Corsa for heavens sake, old shape Clio 172's are dull as fook and you have a mint Corsa, I cannot believe you need to ask, ok the Clio is newer but within a few years it will have fallen to pieces.

i would personally keep the corsa looks nice! but thats just my opinion also with the bhp difference being about 16bhp would you really notice the difference much on the road? if not then i guess it would boil down to which car you think looks better oh apart from the handling but since ive never drove a XE yet i dunno what they are like?

Yeah i'll prob end up keeping the corsa tbh.
But i do I prefer the Clio in pretty much every way, but i've only had this a couple of months and i'd need to sell this quick to pay for the Clio. So will be easier to keep mine i think. But i really want a clio I need to learn to be happy with what i've got...

Jay, if you want to buy the Clio but keep the Corsa for a while to make your mind up, I'll happily keen an eye on the Corsa for you
As far as I know, you've had Corsa's for years, may be it is time for a change?
Then again, if there is nothing wrong with the Corsa, it is running fine and doesn't keep going wrong i.e. not costing you much to run, may be you're tempting fate?

Yeah you could be right Dean, the Corsa's not gone wrong yet (touch wood) Apart from electric window falling out the runners, and exhaust hanging down and scraping everything in sight But it hasn't cost me anything yet which is actually really wierd for a car i've owned! I know what you mean about a change, but could be too soon after getting this one for a change.

keep the corsa, tbh you can by a 172 years down the line, your corsa is effectivelty a one off and in a few years time i bet you won't want a 2.0 corsa so enjoy it whilst you have it, otherwise you'll look back on it and wish you kept the corsa.
