at the moment i have a K&N air filter on my car, the cone one that is known for letting in heat soak from the engine bay! i read somewhere that you can buy a standard airbox for the corsa b from vauxhall for around £10 which i thought was fair cheap! anyway i was just thinking if i was to get a standard airbox and fit it myself as it cant be that hard, would i notice a better response accelerating as there wouldn't be any flat spots then?
advise needed lol, sorry for the essay!

cheers, Jay

generally and k&n will increase performance by a few bhp because it gets air to the engine faster. it could be that the filter is blocked.

You get better airflow, and will get more power when the engine is cold, but as soon as the engine heats up you will get heatsoak as the k&n is not protected from the heat in the engine bay.

Get an airbox and a panel filter if you want it a bit more free breathing, but on a 1.2 I would probably just keep it standard to be honest.

Get a standard airbox back on and use the standard air feed, will be fine and dandy. After all it was designed to be like that.

Nope, because if it isn't running properly, you won't get good money for it.

Go to a scrap yard and pick up an airbox for £5-10, and get a standard panel filter from Halfords for around £5-8.

Will easily gain the max of £20 when you sell it if it then runs properly.

Just go to a scrappie mate, will be cheaper. Get the box, the airfeed etc. Then just go to halfords or any motor factors and just get a standard panel air filter.

lol. I don't really know either. I guess you would phone them up and ask if they have any lying arround first. Just so you don't waste your time.

I'd get one of these mate...

Good sound, good looks, good performance.

I think a cone air filter is a must in the engine bay, they look so much better than an airbox! BUT, they let in hot air
This beauty doesnt and you can still see the red cone filter

Who cares what it looks like?

What use is being able to see the filter?

Oh look at my amazing cool airfilter, it doesn't actually filter any air though and gives my car flatspots, brilliant.

No, cant get second hand from the dealer. About £60 retail, although i could prob get one for more like £15 at cost price, but i work in the parts dept of a vauxhall dealership.

If you do go for a cone air filter...CLEAN & OIL IT! These aftermarket air filters need to be oiled or they let in crap and you will sandblast your pistons

When i get back to work on Monday i will get you some prices mate, but TBH i'd go with the closed type induction kit like the ebay one i posted. I have used these apiro units on seat ibizas before and they are a really good kit, including all reducers etc...
For under £40 too
