Well i've decided to do a slow but steady progress thread on the cupra. After picking the car up a month ago, this is how it looked
(Previous owners pics)

The car wasn't running properly, so i took it to ADS, and got all of the problems sorted, whlst there, i managed to get an uprated Dump valve and Induction kit

Just this week i've managed to get hold of some lowering springs until i can get my coilovers in April, hopefully it should look something like this by April.
(excuse dodgy photoshop)

As the mods keep coming i'll keep posting (for anyone who's inetersted)

You shouldn't have said that, I thought they were the wheels you had on it and how low it was

'tis a lovely car though, and rare so I understand?

Progress today...
I started by using wet&dry to rub the plastic work down until it was nice and smooth

Then i cleared away any excess dust etc. using paint prep wipes, then it was time to use the plastic primer

Next i'll be painting, so pics will be up as soon as it's painted and lacquered, just thought i'd show you what i did with the sunny weather today

The cover is going to be black but where the 20VT is and where it was all red is going to be yellow, as is the indentation where the oil cap is. the 20VT is going to be black to break up the yellow in that section

the guys at ADS told me a few people might say it's the wrong way around, but (they do know their stuff) and explained to me that they had fitted it that was becuase, blah blah, i can't remember exactly what they said because i'm not mechanically minded But they said it would do it no harm, and according to them was better that way. If anyone can elaborate on this i would be grateful

I'll take it to them and see what they say about the DV. The first coat of black is on now let that dry for the night and then apply second coat before doing yellow, then it's onto lacquer, will post pics when it's all done

Wow looks good

How hard are they to fit, thinking about getting lowering springs at somepoint as well. Could an amature do it ?

As long as you have some knowledge and the necessary tools (spring compressors) then it's pretty straight forward. My mate did mine and i helped him. His knowledge is a lot more extensive than mine, but the job was pretty straight forward. Wouldn't recommend doing it alone though mate
