if you enjoy a nice city, good culture, VERY strong weed, very good nightclubs/ bars and can put up with british weather then go
still a good place to go with the mrs aswell

ouch i was paying about £2.50 on average for a large beer(500ml) think the most i ever paid was in a big nightclub and that was £4

i stayed at the aaborg hotel, its about 30 mins walk from from the city centre( rld, dam square etc) but right next to it was a huge brothel called park 118, it was oppisite Sarphatipark which is lovely and just down the road you have another red light district and some coffee shops with the strongest stuff in the city
rembrandtplein was only about 15 mins walk away which has several bars, coffee shops, nightclubs, restaurants etc.
however i did go when the world cup was on and the weather was lovely, this time of year it will be cold so you might wanna stay abit closer to the centre

I stayed in a place called Hotel Rooms. It was about £8 a night and it was next door to The Grasshopper. Err, well, it seemed like it was about a 10 mile walk back from The Grasshopper, but in the morning it was next door again. Wierd huh? Amsterdam is quite expensive as it's quite touristy, but that hasn't ruined it. You'll have a good time

I dunno if id ever go, i dont smoke weed and not interested in prostitutes, according to some mates at uni it wouldnt have anything to offer me. Are they speaking the truth?

Absolute sh1te mate, I went over ont ferry from Newcastle or Hull which ever P&O go from i dont smoke weed but i did take advantage of two double chocolate mufins from one of the million bulldog bars, i paid the equivilant of fifty pence to get into the sex museum where there is absolutely everything you can think of relating to sex and more stuff you would never dream of being related to sex.
it was the best adventure me and my mates have done in our 24 year existance
best bit was being chemically intoxicated on the return journey, i bought a cheap room to rest in like many others and because the rooms were like portacabin style non of the walls were solid they were dividers so you hear everyone playing with their new toys. all i could do was listen and giggle due to my level of intoxication.
i say arrange it and go, if its not your thing dont go again !

Well that may be absolute shite, but it seems like a fair point judging by what you said. If the best bit you can tell me about was being stoned on the return journey, and i dont smoke weed, then doubt that would be of any interest to me would it? lol!

i dont smoke weed and never have done, alcohol was available prostitues were available there were alsorts of drugs available, i dont do any of them
why does your reply read so negative, is it because i went on a trip had a bloody good time considering i was not fussed about the things in amsterdam.
there are loads of things to do in amsterdam but the main attraction is mainly the drugs culture and legality oh then the prostitues and sex shops, so if you cant enjoy any of that and have no sense of adventure to find somethng else to do then no theres no point going,

my trip was a 12 hr sail there then 6 hrs on land in amsterdam then back on boat and 12 hr sail back
a full wek end of it would not be my style
