I've put it back for now, but only with the "full text" search bit. This is actually the more 'intelligent' part of the search routine and supports full boolean algebra etc...

Works fine for me.
On the subject of 'usability', no one complains that Google only has one text entry box. Now we just need to get the indexing as good as Googles

also if i want to find a post that was posted say in the last two days then as the search results arent ordered by date order? then thats an awful lot of trawling to find the post you want.
Forums search is a completely different kettle of fish to google as the search requirements are different

Yes we just need to find a better way to implement them with over 3 million posts -- they're not gone for ever...

This is a temporary fix.
Current search is the most efficient way of doing it, so its quick and you can find things if you give it words.
Finding specific items by user is slow so needs more work before it comes back.

Doesn't work right Rob.
It's bringing up lists of posts from April 2005
I want my most recent listed working backwards.
Is that possible still?

Trouble is, ordering by date can mean sorting up to 50k records for some people. I'm on it right now but I also need to speak to Tim as he was working on some other aspects of it.
