ok the engine in the corsa is running pretty well imo
it has done 55k or there abouts and has had the timing belt done twice since new and had a water pump about 1k ago
i was thinking if the engine was to get mapped and the rev limiter raised there must be some up-rated parts i should use to some the engine goin pete tong ?
at the same time i thought i would maybe be worth doing some kind of re build/ freshen up so i no the engine is goin to last a while longer
i got the engine on 45k and since have changed the oil every 3k and done all the fiilters and plugs twice (only using gm parts as i get trade)
whats your thought ?

SBD rollers and ARP rod bolts, everything else is fine for about 8500rpm.
As you've looked after it, nothing else will need doing

if its balanced.....
i had 7200rpm on my totally standard bottom end with no probolems, as did robin.
i would only fit the sbd rollers if your doing a cambelt.what do you plan to rev it to

i had almost 8k rpm limit on a standard engine, never had any problems. depends on how often you plan to drive it at that rpm, i hardly ever drove at that high revs for a long period of time

SBD rollers are £90, BUT, they don't break like the plastic ones do, so they're well worth it.
ARP bolts are about the same, and you'll need a new sump gasket.
might be worth getting a new headgasket too, if it's never had one, a full head bolt and gasket set is about £60

so around 240 in parts...labour ?
broster said the mapping is £450
so if the labour is alot more i would rather do an xe conversion for the £ then spend some £ on that ?

ask him, the SBD rollers will be done with the cambelt anyway, so they won't cost anything to fit, the rod bolts and headgasket I've got no idea.
If you got an 20XE, you'd want a new cambelt and gasket set anyway, so you'd be spending out for labour on that, plus parts, plus engine, plus fitting kit, plus paying to have it fitted.

IIRC, my sbd rollers were around £85.
cometic headgasket was £90
cambelt £15

theres annother company that make them. they also supply you with a tensioner bolt...for 'IF' you decide to use a solid tensioner instead of a sprung one.

There is no point IMHO reving it higher, as with the lexmaul all your power it made though the midrange, if you had a mantzel, the yes go for it, as it makes it power up near the top
IMO a remapp on yours would be a waste of money, simply as i dont think your get a decent gain from it, i would get a ported and polished head and a set of cams before i had a remapp

jr your right in way of the lexmaul, it revs really well up to 6k, go over and it looses its power straight away, it shows on the rr print out 120 bhp @ 6000 and then drops heavily to 108 at 6500.
the lexmaul acts as a power band imo between 4000 and 6000
