well this lunch time my xbox succombed (sp) to the dreaded red ring of death
so off to MS support she goes to get fixed. could be another 4 weeks before i get her back. 15 working day turnaround and i got fucking easter - the mother of all bank holidays - in the middle of it

hmm maybe i will ring game now and see if i can get a new one. would rather get a new one than a repaired one. especially if it runs slightly cooler+quiter
where did you get yours replaced by dave? and how old was it?
rus - its deffo a hardware faliure as the top right quadrant doesnt light up like it does with an av cable failure

Im 99% sure GAME replace dead consoles, you also get to keep you HDD. As you say, you will also get one with the updated PSU so i doubt itl die again.
I got mine from PC World, bought in June 06 and i took mine back maybe November time i think. Had zero problems with my new one

just rung them and they said they will replace it as long as its under warranty and they test it and the same fault comes up

hopefully this time you will get the later model with the better disc drive and cooler running psu. i have this model and not once has it given me any trouble
