Any independant garage should look over it for not much cash I would think.

What do you actually want them to find?
TBH there's very little that can be done, and that you can't do yourself.
Things to check are:
- Cold start - any smoke form the exhaust
- Hot start - just checking that the electrics are fine once warmed up
- Engine running temp - if it runs hot or not - does the fan kick in ok?
- Listening for any noises from the engine when idling/driving
- Checking fluids aren't mixing - oil in coolant (black coolant!), or coolant in oil "Mayo" on the oil cap.

white smoke when you start is normal, just condensation burning off, but if its still white when the car is warm, it could be headgasket.
check for white crap in the oil under the filler cap, and black in the water expansion tank

Check for oil on the dipstick?
In the header tank (coolant) run your finger around the inside and see if there is any "mayo" there.

take it to a garage, get them to do a carbons test for the expansion tank

its pretty obvious that it is the head gasket mate, i had the exact same symptons, i know alot of pople advise against it but if you dont have the cash to sort out and are planning a new engine some time then buy somthing called k-seal (£10).
worked for me and that was 2months or so ago
Do you get alot of preasure when taking the coolant cap off? and what ever water left bubbling like a twat.
also just incase your not satisfied.. when the car is cold unscrew the coolant cap. make sure enough water is in, start the engine and look out for exhaust gases and smell the water. that will tell you for sure if its the head gasket. If your not convinced by these then i dont know what your going to do lol

the water may also boil over if you run it with the expansion tank cap off. The water shouldnt boil over if the gasket it ok

well i have warranty on it so if i can prove the head gasket is going/gone they will have to fix it for me for free!!
yes i have to turn the cap of the coolant a little and then leave it for ages so it stops letting the pressure out then turn it a bit more and let more out etc

well i bought the car friday 25th and it was suppose to come with a full service, so i think they have either not done one or ignored a few things so they dont have to repair it for free on the warranty.
So i need someone professional to look at it and tell me the head gasket so i can produce a document showing that its gone otherwise they could just tell me its fine again??
anyone suggest where i should go, also want them to check for other probs that they may have left out??

simple test, they just screw something on the lid, then run the car, if the liquid changes colour it indicates there is exhaust carbon fumes in the water system

or you can do your own carbon fumes test an fill the tank up with water an dip your finger in the water an usually you can smell the fumes off your finger.

might be a bit misleading if you dont know what smell your looking for thoughm as coolant tanks always smell a bit fishy anyway

so i should take my water coolant cap off then start the engine, put my finger in the coolant and see if my finger smells of fumes???

yup, thats pretty much it, if there is then that indicates the gasket has split and and the coolant is going into the cylinder.
