vauxhall mechanics are a pain in the arse for leaving them in gear, is it really that hard to take it out of gear when you stop?
if you were taught propely you would have been tought to wiggle the gear nob to check if its in gear before starting

Ok, you could put the clutch in, take it out of gear, then let it out, start the car, put the clutch in, put the car back in gear.
OR, put the clutch in.

The place I used to work at, we were told to leave the car in gear as you don't know how good the handbrake is.

I always leave me car in gear so just dip the clutch when I start it. Do it even when I know it isn't in gear.

It's not a bad habit It saves your car rolling back into the car behind you on a hill if the handbrake cable breaks

It's not a bad habit. I don't wanna walk out of my house on a morning to find my car in my neighbours front garden cos my handbrake cables snapped.
