Just look at the clock mate, when the second hand has gone round once then you've hit 60

Without being harsh mate its abit of a stupid question as i cant really think of any reason why you would want to know.
but ..... if your thinking about putting a rev counter in then look below

Well, if you want to know the redline for each gear, then its something like this (i used to drive a 1.4 8v, the gearing is the same)
1st: 25
2nd 45
3rd: 75
4th: about 100
5th: You'll never top out.
However, they have a fairly safe rev limit on them anyway, so it would be hard to over rev it.

I think its 6400 rpm IIRC. When i had a rev counter in mine though it would hit the rev limiter at 6000, but that could just be because the rev counter was out slightly.

1st 30mph (limiter)
2nd 52mph (limiter)
3rd 81mph (limiter)
4th near 100mph
5th will lose speed as it is economy gear to save petrol

Ahh, could be all of them then. I know in the manual for the car is says the max engine speed for the C14NZ is 6400 rpm, i would guess its the same for the C12NZ too. It does seem to hit the limiter at 6k though, so maybe vauxhall set it abit lower for safety.

SORRY!! BUT THINK YOU SHOULD DO 0-60 TIMES AS SOME DONT EVEN MAKE 100 LOL
YOU SHOULD CHANGE JSUT BEFORE THE LIMITER IN EACH GEAR, TO FIND THESE GO OUT, WATCH THE SPEEDO, AND WAIT FOR IT TO HIT THE LIMITER, YOU WILL HEAR IT BUT CHANGE STRAIGHT AWAY AS IT IS NOT GOOD FOR CAR!!

mine makes 100 just lol, but i thought u start to lose power as u get up into the top revs, so it would be better to change before u hit the limiter?

yeh u dont want to be hitting the limiter as that will slow you down and ruin the car, you want to change just before it gets there

The power curve will drop off towards the end of its revs, but killing it is the qiuckest way. This because you are still picking up speed in the gear you are in. Unless you have a 800 hp scoob, then it dont matter!Because it could probably set off in a higher gear quickly still.

where on earth are people finding these 1.2 8vs that will hit 100, the listed max speed is 90 and mine'll only make that with a really big run up.

Give it a good service and maye try some reddex? I dont rate it tho. And also try cleaning out your throttle body. Should hit 100. Manufacturers max speed is always a lower figure than reality.
