Im getting no spark from the coil, so im assuming that it is broken. Anything else it could be?

The coil on my car now has a part number of 1 220 522 014. But i cant find anywhere that sells one with this part number. Do i have to get one with this number or will any 2.0 16v one do?

Maybe thats just an an old part number and they could have changed the manufacturer...ect

Should be a case of getting a coil form the same 2.0 16v car from years x-x
Try ebay might be one on there...

Yeah i did see that one, really want to get a new one though as that one could be broken for all i know.

Thats what i was thinking, as long as its for a 2l 16v, then it shouldn't really matter?

Cheers for your help though mate

I dont know Lee. I just assumed it would be the coil as there was no spark coming from it.

Would the fuel relay cause it to not spark too then? There was petrol coming out of the bleed when you pressed it.

Where is the fuel pump relay on the car then? Where all the fuses are? I'll go get one of them first and see if that does the trick

Well i've had a look in the haynes manual and it says that it is down in the drivers footwell. (where my ecu now is) And it isn't there.

I've got 9 relays on the fuse panel, 3 of which are big black ones

Not one of them has a red/blue wire and a red wire coming out from them. They all have around 3-4 wires coming from them.

If its xe corsa it wont show you the right one for the loom. thier is a big black relay which connects to the ecu. nothing to do with the standard loom.

Well.....

I found the fuel relay, it works. So i tested the voltage at the coil to see if this was the problem. Voltage was fine, hmm. Took the dizzy cap off and cleaned the rotor arm up. Checked for a spark...no spark.

So i unclipped the ecu, gave it a blow, plugged it back in. Woo its started!! Oh no whats that noise? uh its died started it again, second later turns itself off.

Its making a really loud screaching noise when the engine is running before it dies

I have no idea what it could be

take the alternator belt off incase its the alternator screaching. could be the thrust bearing but doubt it. put ur foot on the clutch to see if it dissapears. may be the bottom pulley catching on the timing belt arrow if thats been disturbed also
