as it had been unplugged for a few days and unused for two weeks thought i would give it a go, lasted 3 minutes before my screen went blurry, red chequers appeared, so restarted and i now have three red lights all but the top right if the console is lay flat, internal fault isnt it?

yup masive internal fault return it to the store, unless its out of warranty then you have to pay £65 for a fix.

they need some english people on the phones, he was dutch or something

but the procedure is they tell you to unplug everything switch it on tell them what happens check power adaptor light, then unplug the hdd and repeat

then that confirms its broke
he then sends you an email with a label and phone number, you call the guy he comes and picks it up and you get it back 25 days later..

i asked how come its happening to so many consoles and he said its just an internal fault and they dont know why so i cheekily asked if they could return an elite to me instead, answer was no but then i said is it anything to do with forza 2 as it only happened since that came out and he tried twisting it saying my console wasnt ventilated enough, its on top on my shelving unit with nothing either side or on top

but yeah im getting it fixed for free

Heatsink is held onto the processor with a shitty X-Clamp apprantly, and when it overheats it melts...? Thats the root of the 3 red lights Read it on quite a few forums, and there's even a permanent fix for it if you're out of warrenty.

Towel Fix is temporary at best. Permanent fix involves opening up the console and replacing the X clamp with a different design IIRC

overcooling can cause probs too, like that intercooler thing you can buy broke xboxes too
