Don't know if any of you ever speak to your old man about modding your motor or so?

But everytime I speak to my old man about (in his words) "Barrying" it up he says that there is no point!

I do understand where he is coming from because I have seen that a lot of people buy a car for about £1000 and then spend well over that doing it up!?!?!?!

The stupid thing in all of this is when they come to sell the car, because the car would have depreciated soo much that all of the money spent on it would have been wasted!

I just want to know how much you lot have bought your cars for and then how much have you spent on them doing it up?!?!

Let me know

I bought mine for £1000

then spent well over 10K
with it being a different bodyshops 5 times 3 changes to same kit, 2 new engines etc etc

that was with me doing 90% of the work myself aswell so if i had to pay labour it would easily have been over 20K

all a learning curve though

I bought my car for £5000.

£10,000 worth of changes later, it now doesn't even work

I never done my car for anyone else, or to sell it straight away. I done mine becuase I always wanted to, end of. Bonues were because of the social life it brings, the fun and adventures it can bring

When it comes to sell, either take all the bits off and put if back to standard, or sell it as it is and make a huge loss.

Its modified cars, expect to loose money, money shouldn't have anything to do with if you want to modify your car.

Tell your old man to stop using such a dunce word for modifying cars. Barrying has come from Barryboys website, its not like the word chav, or ned, or boyracer. Tell him to stop trying to be cool and hip

Am i gutted I spent loads on my car, yes.

Do I regret a single penny of it, or the fun it brang, never.

Exhaust - £700
Alloys - £500
Life it brings - Priceless.

I would say that most people who make the concious decision to modify their car share this viewpoint.

Astra payed £6k for it (it was 3 years old) and i have probberly spent £6k on "doing it up." I'd be lucky to get £3k for it now.

Corsa i payed £1200 for it in Dec and have spent so far almost £2k on it.

Anyone wanna buy my Corsa for £3200 .................... No one

Ah well

Plus you can see where your hard earned ££££ is going instead off "pissing" it down a drain.

I've spent about 6k on the green car now. Sold bits though, so kind of losing track of how much i've spent.

I don't really care though. What else would I do? Spend it on a new car and never see that money again in depreciation?

Alternativley I could blow the cash on coke like a lot of the people in my year. Would rather have the car

Yea it's def a good idea to take all of the aftermarket stuff off the car although that could be difficult for some people depending on how much they have put on lol!

My mate said that he will be taking his K&N off his car when he comes to sell it, he just says that people will think boyracer ( and he's 25!) ---> thrashed car etc etc etc

No no, thats on my 1996 Corsa B.

And my other half has spent a LOT lot more than that on her 1993 Corsa GSi too A LOT more

AS someones said, i went out, i got drunk, I had fun, but I also spent my money on my car, something I could at least show with pictures, videos, and memories.......

Can't really do that with "only designer label" clothes, and a few extra beers every night, etc etc etc.

I would still take my choice in modifiying cars as I had sooooooooooooo much fun. Since i've not been playing with my car, doing bits n bobs, the quickest thing i've been in is the astra, my bike, or that Airplane I was on the other night

If something arrives in the post and my dad asks me how much it is I normally give him 3/4 of the price it is and he still thinks its expensive .

My defence is that its better than throwing £500 into beer and drugs every month.

My Dad doesnt get why I spend money on a car. He's more of a motorbike man and moans that cars are too slow.
