Yep - Finally thought, can't be arsed to work on this one by myself, so dropped it off to get a shiney standard exhaust fitted. Haven't dropped a car off at a garage and paid for work for AGGGES now, so figured i'd give it a go. Armed with my quote of £84 I dropped it off to get the exhaust fitted this morning. Ace - Well known garage, won't let me down.

I'm not one to mention names. But the state that NATIONWIDE AUTO CENTRES gave the car back to me in made me mad

Started it up and it was fine except a bit of a blow. The "Centre Manager" reckoned the CAT could have been messed around before, and he's fixed it but doesn't know how long it will last.

Great. A couple of months, then i'll start worrying about it again. Nope. 5 minutes later, the car sounded like it doesn't even have an exhaust. The bit of "bandage" round the cat is hanging off and can barely feel any pressure coming out of the rear pipe.

Really pissed off - They are getting the keys back tomorrow morning, I can see them trying to swindle me out of a new CAT straight away though.

I had something similar to that with my old car the middle pipe had snapped and they replaced that... and then all of a sudden I needed a back box + CAT on my 106 within a week of them doing the work the bastards... 99% of mechanics rip ppl off big style!!!!!

What a farce. I stay clearly of garages bar my local one for MOTs (which Ive used for 5 years)

Would worry the hell out of me leaving my car at a garage as I know what happens on test drives all too well

had my corsa with the bat motorsport wide kit on it they did the same to me with the exhaust scratched one of my alloys n tried to do me outta piston rings oil seals sayin it was burnin oil n wouldnt pass the emissions test, err the car has never burnt oil or needed topped up plus took it somewhere else and it passed emissions being spot on wankers

No they dont! Its the tyre and exhaust places that are rip off's, they make there money on commision therefore they sell you whatever they can. Not the mechanics faults!

dont pay u never gave consent to it being fitted did u therefore u dont need to pay for it they cant make u!!

phil says jus got it back and they've had a new cat fitted which means in my eyes they have supplied and fitted it and with out his consent he dont need to pay for it!

I worked in a tyre/exhaust place. If you leave without paying, it is theft.

They shouldn't have fitted it without asking, but it's still theft if he doesn't pay.

The only thing you can do, is take it back and ask them to remove it, or pay for it
